On Wednesday September 23, it is National Tree Day here in Canada! What a better way to show how much we are in appreciation and in awe of trees, than to have a social distancing opportunity to take care of an afforestation area! Can you just imagine this urban regional park – about a quarter section of trees – being looked after by the community on Saturday September 19? On this first day of National Forest Week, Saturday September 19, show that you care!
What a great opportunity to get George Genereux Urban Regional Park, located in the City of Saskatoon, looking fine and dandy just in time for National Tree Day! If you love trees, and would love to give your favourite tree a hug on Saturday September 19, see the details at George Genereux Cleanup
Adopting and caring for this forest is fantastic in this era of climate change. Afforestation is an amazing way to take action and be pro-active indeed! Do your part for the environment. Being outdoors in 148 acres of trees is great to protect yourself in these unusual times. The forest is about 1/2 mile by 1/2 mile in size! Look forward to seeing you there!
Tree Canada encourages everyone to “Make a Difference!”

“Besides water, trees provide pure air. They are the great filtering machines for the human organism. They improve and transform the air in a way which is most favourable and most acceptable to the lungs of man. ” Richard St. Barbe Baker

“The future of the planet concerns all of us, and all of us should do what we can to protect it. ” Wangari Maathai.
“The science of forestry arose from the recognition of a universal need. It embodies the spirit of service to mankind in attempting to provide a means of supplying forever a necessity of life and, in addition, ministering to man’s aesthetic tastes and recreational interests. Besides, the spiritual side of human nature needs the refreshing inspiration which comes from trees and woodlands. If a nations saves its trees, the trees will save the nation. And nations as well as tribes may be brought together in this great movement, based on the ideal of beautifying the world by the cultivation of one of God’s loveliest creatures – the tree.” ~ Richard St. Barbe Baker
