The Richard St Barbe Baker Afforestation Area and George Genereux Urban Regional Park contribute greatly to improving the quality of the air, and addressing Climate Change with a local climate biosphere. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change emphasizes closed forest formations of various storeys and undergrowth to mitigate extreme climate extremes. These amazing Saskatoon afforestation areas maintain biodiversity, provide flood control, create breathable air, carbon storage, healthy maintenance of soils, water purification, micro- and macro-climate control, and nutrient cycling.
Celebration of the Afforestation Areas are a prime way to take action on climate change, and another is to register for the Climate Strike in Saskatoon September 27, 2019
